György Striker Junior Paper Award

Donated by the Founding Secretary General of the International Measurement Confederation, Professor György Striker and his wife, Barbara.

Since 1994 the Award (USD 2 000) will be given at the Closing Session of a World Congress to one junior author below the age of 35 years, whose paper reflects a deep understanding knowledge of the Congress theme, describing a novelty in technology or application.

The author must be the presenter of the paper and the final decision will be taken by the committee specially nominated for the purpose.

Candidates should fill out the following form (PDF, WORD) and return it, SIGNED, in PDF format.

 

The György Striker Junior Paper Award was given, at the IMEKO World Congress 2009 Closing Session in Lisbon, to Ryota Kudo from Japan, based on the paper entitled "Fundamental Verification For 2-Dimensional Super-Resolution Optical Inspection For Semiconductor Defects By Using Standing Wave Illumination Shift".

Born on November 21, 1981 in Fukuoka, Japan.

Study of Precision Engineering at The University of Tokyo, 2006 diploma work “Analysis of scattered light form from minute object”.

2008 M.Sc. work “Development of experimental apparatus for two-dimensional super-resolution by using standing wave illumination shift”.

2009 "György Striker Junior Paper Award" for the paper R. Kudo, S. Usuki, S. Takahashi, and K. Takamasu: Fundamental Verification for 2-Dimensional Super- Resolution Optical Inspection for Semiconductor Defects by Using Standing Wave Illumination Shift".

 

Presentation Instructions

Authors must fill out the SPEAKER BIO form, print it, bring it to Lisbon and deliver it to your session co-chairs before the session start.

Oral Presentations

Each oral presentation consists of 15 minutes for presentation by the author.
After this time, there will be 5 minutes for questions and answers coordinated by the session co-chairs.

The acceptable formats for presentations are MS PowerPoint and Adobe PDF.

Each room will be equipped with one PC connected to an LCD projector.
Each author must bring their presentation in USB memory device and upload the presentation into the PC BEFORE the start of the corresponding session. In each room there will be a Congress assistant to help with the presentation upload.

In the presentation itself, try not to overcrowd each slide with text and graphics. Do not read full text off the presentation. Use fonts larger than 20 point so the text is easily read by the audience members. Try to use either Arial or Verdana fonts.

 

Poster Presentations

The maximum usable area for posters is: 90 cm (width) by 100 cm (height).
Posters composed of A4 (or A3) sheets placed together ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.


Authors must place their poster after lunch (13h30m) on the day of their poster session and remove them only at the end of the day (18h20m). Presence of the authors by the posters is required only in the slot where the poster is scheduled.

Congress assistants will be available to help authors in the placement of the posters with supplies and the correct location of the posters.

1) To which email should I send the final paper?

2) What are the accepted file formats for the final paper?

The only accepted file format for the final paper is PDF.

3) What are the languages in which the final paper should be written?
The final paper must be written in English.
4) Is there a Tex template or example available?
We are sorry but, a Tex template is not available and will not be available for the final submission. However, the instructions within the doc and pdf should be enough to format your Tex.
5) I have prepared my paper in Word (or other program) but can't convert it to PDF. Should I just change the file extension to PDF?
No. There are many free tools available to convert your document to PDF on the web, so please use one of them. One online free converter can be found at http://www.doc2pdf.net/converter/.
6) What is the format for the final paper?
See the instructions above.
7) What should the final paper include?
The final paper should clearly define your problem, the approach used, simulation and or measurement results, conclusions and references. It is similar to the submitted extended abstract but with a limit of six pages.
8) Does my final paper need to be six pages long?
No. However, this maximum length is to assure that the final papers have a sufficient level of detail.
9) I have an accepted extended abstract to the IMEKO World Congress. However, I am unable to submit the final paper by June 22nd. Will there be a deadline extension?

11) Is it necessary to answer the reviewers comments, or do we only have only to consider them for the full paper?

Authors only need to address the issues raised by the reviewers when preparing the full paper. Do not include a letter addressing the reviewers comments.

12) Can I update my submission details (e.g., change the abstract) without uploading the paper?

14) I want to plan my travel to Lisbon for the "IMEKO XIX World Congress". When will the conference program will be available?
We are in the progress of preparing the schedule. However we will only be able to complete it after final paper submission to ensure presence of oral paper presenters. You can count on 5 full days of Congress (Monday through Friday).
